GrenCHAP was founded in 2001 with a primary focus on Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), in response to the regional partnership between The Global Fund and PANCAP.
The Global Fund is a unique global public/private partnership dedicated to attracting and disbursing additional resources to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. It is active in the Caribbean and provides major funding to the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV/AIDS (PANCAP) for the region’s response to HIV/AIDS.
Today, GrenCHAP Inc. is a non-governmental organisation working to promote Sexual Reproductive Health and Human Rights, with a focus on marginalised populations, such as LGBT and Sex Workers.
Over the years, our workplan has received financial support from the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Alliance, amfAR, and, at present the Open Society Foundations (OSF).
VISION: is a society where there is Tolerance, Respect and Dignity for all.
MISSION: is to empower marginalized populations, through rights-based advocacy, and increase access to information and health care services.
Our GOALS are:
- Conduct comprehensive research on marginalized populations in Grenada that would inform policies and programs.
- Invest in strengthening the capacity and visibility of the organization, by maintaining growth, sustainability and accountability.
- Foster an enabling environment where marginalized populations are free to access health and social services without fear of stigma or discrimination.
